We begin with a relaxed evening under the iconic boulders of Alabama Hills, then climb high into the remote Coyote Flats plateau (11,000 ft) — a place of shimmering alpine lakes, sweeping Sierra vistas, and star-filled skies.
With dedicated trail leadership, intimate group size, and a Saturday night community potluck dinner, this trip blends the thrill of true off-roading with the warmth of the WOR community.

Day 1 – Friday, Sept 4
Arrival & Staging – Alabama Hills
- 5:00–11:00 p.m.: Roll-in window.
- WOR staging camp set among the boulders with sweeping Whitney views.
- Dinner on your own (bring food for your arrival evening).
- Evening: Relax into your weekend under desert stars.
Day 2 – Saturday, Sept 5
Alabama Hills → Bishop → Funnel Lake
- Morning: Bring-your-own breakfast at camp.
- 10:00 a.m.: Depart via Bishop (fuel/resupply), then begin the climb into Coyote Flats.
- Lunch on the trail (BYO).
- 3:00 p.m.: Arrive at Funnel Lake; set up basecamp.
- Evening: WOR Potluck Dinner — everyone brings a dish or item to share for a festive group meal at 11,000 ft.
- After dinner: Stargazing together under pristine night skies.
Day 3 – Sunday, Sept 6
Summit Run & Lake Play
- 8:30 a.m.: Breakfast (BYO).
- 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Optional summit trail run with panoramic Sierra views.
- Lunch on the trail (BYO).
- Afternoon: Family-friendly lake day — paddle boarding, kayaking, and shoreline fun for kids and adults alike.
- Evening: Dinner on your own, then WOR closing night with community and Milky Way skies.
Day 4 – Monday, Sept 7
Farewell & Descent
- 8:00 a.m.: Breakfast (BYO).
- 9:30 a.m.: Break camp, convoy down into Bishop.
- 12:00 p.m.: Trip concludes in Bishop.
🛠️ Vehicle & Gear Requirements
- Vehicles: Any stock vehicle with 4WD low range (4Lo) and front/rear recovery points is welcome.
- Tires: All-terrain recommended; 33”+ helpful but not required.
- Gear: Bring your own food (except for Saturday’s potluck contribution), cooking gear, and camping kit. Paddle boards/kayaks encouraged for lake day.
- Skills: No extreme off-road experience required. WOR guides will support you through the trail.
