FAQ - Expeditions
🚙 Vehicle Requirements
4WD Required – Easy Trails
These expeditions are beginner-friendly. Trails are mild but still require 4WD.
If you or your rig ever feel uncomfortable, we always have backup routes to keep things enjoyable.
👉 See each expedition page to confirm whether it’s listed as 4WD Required or 4Lo Required.
4Lo Required – Technical Sections
Trails that require 4Lo are still suitable for most stock 4WD vehicles.
You can expect occasional technical driving, and our team will spot and guide you as needed.
Chance of body damage is minimal, but any off-road travel carries inherent risk.
👉 Check the specific expedition listing for detailed vehicle requirements.
⛽ Fuel Planning
Unless stated otherwise, our expeditions include fuel stops every 200 road miles (or 130 off-road miles).
Please plan for at least a 25% fuel reserve at all times.
🔧 Pre-Departure Checklist
Before departure, please ensure your vehicle is ready for multi-day travel:
Tires: Minimum 25% tread remaining, no cracks, sidewall damage, or plugs in load-bearing areas.
Maintenance: No leaks, loose parts, or warning lights.
Fluids: Check oil, coolant, transmission, and brake fluid levels.
Spare: Full-size spare tire in usable condition.
Recovery Points: Front and rear rated recovery points are strongly recommended.
A visual pre-inspection will take place at the meetup point.
If your vehicle appears unsafe or mechanically unfit, you may be turned away for the safety of the group.
You are also welcome to schedule a pre-trip check-in with us in Upland, CA before departure for a walkthrough of your rig and gear.
🧭 Trail & Driving Expectations
Our expeditions are non-competitive and community-oriented. It’s not about how hard we can push — it’s about the journey.
Convoy Spacing: Maintain safe distance to reduce dust and avoid collisions.
Communication: All vehicles must have GMRS radios.
- Don’t have one? WOR can provide one with a $50 refundable deposit.
- Channel assignments will be shared before departure.
Pace: We drive at a relaxed group speed to keep everyone together.
Stops: Expect regular breaks for photos, scenery, and kid-friendly rest stops.
🥾 Food, Water & Supplies
Plan to be self-sufficient for up to five days.
Most expeditions include a grocery resupply stop every 3–4 days to restock food, water, and drinks.
Recommended minimums:
Water: 1.5–2 gallons per person, per day (including cooking and cleaning).
Food: Easy-prep meals, snacks, and backup options.
Power: Portable battery or solar recommended for fridges, lights, etc.
We follow Leave No Trace principles — everyone is responsible for their own waste and trash.
🚿 Showers
You’ll have access to showers approximately every 2–4 days, either at established campgrounds or using WOR shower systems provided by our team.
